July 4th is the America 250 nationwide semi-quincentennial celebration .  The Library  will be celebrating with the kids summer reading program as well as with an adult challenge. 

The adult reading challenge 250 begins July 1st.   Stop in to  sign up and receive a patriotic bag with gifts and read throughout the month of July to celebrate the 250 years of the USA!

The Library encourages our readers to read  the print  format  and/or electronic throughout the month.  Bring your reading log back filled out by noon on Friday, July 31st  to enter the drawing for a flag book bag.  Winners will be drawn for the four book bags on Friday, July 31st in the afternoon.  Celebrate this historical event!

The July puzzle exchange will be on Monday,  July 6th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  All ages and puzzle sizes are welcome.  All exchanges must be one puzzle per box.  Bring a puzzle and exchange it for one of equal or lesser pieces.  Each person will get one entry in drawing to win the 1000 piece  "250 years of America" puzzle shown here.

💡 Did You Know?

This month we are featuring local  history to celebrate the America 250.                    The  Library  has many articles from our local newspapers  for our readers to research.  The Library has on its website digital indexed local newspapers from 1904 to Charlevoix County  News present issues .  The link is under Resources on the top of the website and then go to local newspapers.   Click on the individual newspaper date to search.      You have the capability  to print all the page of the newspaper or snip just one article out of the newspaper to print from in the Library or from home.  Link for this site  is  at https://jordan752.yourwebhosting.com/newspapers/.

The Library also has binders that have local historical  information on family histories, churches of East Jordan, Bohemian Settlement, Eveline Orchard history, etc.  in binders in the reference section.  

There is also local obituaries from 1980 to the present of East Jordan obituaries from the local newspapers in binders indexed by years.  Patrons can make copies of the information for a fee or scan to their email if needing these resources.
